How to Tell Which Employees Will Make Great Remote Workers?

In professions like computer programming, writing, web design, graphic design, and many others, working remotely is rapidly becoming more common. It’s an arrangement that benefits both the employer and the employee: employees get to work from home, so they can enjoy a more relaxed schedule and can often spend more time working since they no longer have to commute. In addition, employers can move to a smaller office and spend less money on rent.

Virtual Team Building

## Remote Team Building You’re busy. Your time is precious. It would be best if you didn’t spend it on unimportant posts when you’ve got a team to run. And yet, here you are. Because you recognize how your team’s performance could improve if your team members were able to cooperate more. Maybe you have a new employee and you need some virtual team icebreakers to get them comfortable? You’ve run out of ideas on how to pull this off, though, and many of the articles you found after doing a quick search offer suggestions that feel forced or childish.

Whiteboarding and Brainstorming as a Remote Team

# Collaborating in Real-Time While Working Remotely So you’ve accepted that remote employees are, or will become, a critical puzzle piece in your business’ success. Yet legitimate concerns remain, encapsulated by the general question: how will I maintain clear communication channels and quality standards without in-person access to employees and co-workers? It’s a fair question. Research and experience indicate that there are legitimate concerns tied to remote teamwork. Company culture can be difficult to instill in remote employees. Lags in communication can hinder productivity, entire projects, and resulting revenue. And feeling out an employee’s capabilities and shortcomings can be far more difficult in an out-of-office setting.

Staying Focused When Working From Home

Whether you’re a remote worker escaping the office monotony or an entrepreneur starting up your own business, managing your time when working from home is not as easy as it seems. It can take only seconds to veer off course, shifting your focus off work and landing you squarely in the realm of unproductivity. To stay focused on work, you’ll have to make some sacrifices and reprioritize, which is frankly not an easy task when there’s no one watching over your shoulder. The most difficult task we face when working remotely is staying focused. How to stay productive when working at home is probably the most common question I get asked. I hear from readers all the time who are stressed and at their wits end because they can’t seem to find the same focus and drive at home that they could at work and they need advice for what to do.

Introducing Neomutt for Gmail

Years ago, I wrote up all my notes on how to get gmail working with neomutt Gmail is slow! Make it fast with using Neomutt. It’s become my most popular post on my site by far. While it gave lots of info on how the pipeline works, it didn’t make it easy to ge it all working and I wanted to improve things for folks wanting to get started. After a few days of work, I wanted to introduce neomutt-for-gmail. It’s a nix flake that makes it (hopefully) pretty easy to get things started.
