Green Stocks Sep 16- No Respite For Green Pack
A worsening market might have staged a semblance of a recovery, but the strength of any such recovery remains suspect short of a breakthrough in the gulf clearly. With pain being felt globally now, other than the oil exporting economies well away from the gulf region, it is obvious that breaking point is close for many, including stock markets. A formal capitulation can't be too far away, if oil prices continue to stay at current levels or move up higher. With the Ai hype also moving into final stages, the industry is clearly trying its best to manage conflicting demands with a controlled deflation of expectations. The Indian market will only benefit if that happens, even as a bigger worry in the form of the Fed rate, and our own rate looms. At current levels, the incentive to shift serious monies to India remains limited, and the domestic retail investor, who has found herself doing the heavy lifting for close to two years now, might be close to giving up as well. In that case, we could see a serious slump to 21,000 levels on the Nifty, which would be a completely new (lower) valuation for the market. To escape that, the government needs to get out of its third term complacency, and act on the reforms that are needed to charge large segments of the economy. It's not an easy task, which explains the preference for cosmetic changes and announcements, but it might just be forced to act soon, much like in 1991, whether it likes it or not. the good news is thyat a lot of the reforms will be domestic, especially in education and healthcare, if it bites the bullet to clean out these sectors. Will it rather risk wasting 5 years of growth over election prospects with tough decisions? Time will tell. ## List of Green Stocks | Company Name | Closing Price on Sep 16 | Change % | Year To Date | | ---------------------------------------- | --------------------------- | ------------ | ---------------- | | Acme Solar | 418.00 | -0.57% | +77.08% | | Adani Green | 1,270.20 | +1.21% | +22.33% | | Alpex Solar | 893.35 | -1.43% | +10.86% | | Borosil Renewables | 446.00 | -3.32% | -13.88% | | Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions | 1,286.80 | -2.63% | - | | Emmvee Photovoltaic Power | 321.70 | -2.08% | +73.96% | | Inox Wind | 74.50 | +0.20% | -39.48% | | Insolation Energy Limited | 86.95 | +0.02% | -36.73% | | KPI Green Energy | 276.35 | -0.29% | -42.8% | | NTPC Green | 87.59 | +2.01% | -9.33% | | Oswal Pumps | 269.85 | -2.03% | -47.44% | | Pace Digitek | 152.50 | -0.72% | -18.16% | | Premier Energies | 899.00 | -4.87% | +11.76% | | Shakti Pump | 463.90 | -2.17% | -35.93% | | Solex Energy | 657.65 | -1.68% | -50.43% | | Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy | 177.94 | +2.09% | -18.93% | | Suzlon Energy | 42.15 | -1.75% | -18.24% | | Tata Power | 360.40 | -0.72% | -4.94% | | Vikram Solar | 163.88 | +0.26% | -31.06% | | Waaree Energies | 2,501.00 | -2.11% | -13.55% | | Waaree Renewable Technologies | 801.05 | -0.68% | -16.67% |

Shakti Pumps Is Steadily Boosting Its Manufacturing Arm. Here’s How
Shakti Pumps is steadily expanding its manufacturing footprint beyond solar pumps, with the company now putting greater emphasis on backward integration across the solar value chain. The latest move came on September 14, when the company infused ₹11 crore into its wholly owned subsidiary Shakti Energy Solutions Ltd (SESL). The subsidiary is setting up a greenfield 2.2 GW solar DCR cell and module manufacturing plant at Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. ## Expansion Spree The investment is part of a much larger manufacturing expansion planned by the company. In its latest investor presentation, Shakti Pumps outlined a phased capex programme of around ₹1,700 crore, aimed at doubling capacities across its core businesses while adding new solar and electric-vehicle manufacturing capabilities. At the centre of the plan is solar manufacturing. The company is developing a 0.5 GW DCR module facility as a near-term step, followed by the 2.2 GW integrated DCR cell and module plant at Pithampur. The 0.5 GW facility is expected to be commissioned around September 2026, while the larger 2.2 GW facility is targeted for September 2027. The strategy represents a shift from being primarily a solar-pump manufacturer to building a more vertically integrated solar business. Shakti already manufactures several components used in its solar-pump systems, including pumps, motors, VFDs, controllers, structures and inverters. ## Planned Cell and Module Production The company has said the planned cell and module capacity will help secure solar component supplies, improve cost optimisation and support long-term profitability. It also expects the manufacturing capacity to serve its own solar-pump and rooftop businesses, while supplying domestic and export customers. This backward integration could become particularly relevant as Shakti expands its rooftop solar business. During its Q1 FY27 earnings call, management said the company wants to offer its own panels alongside its rooftop inverters and other components. It also said export customers had been seeking panels from the company for several years. The company currently buys around 50-60 MW of modules every month, according to management. The initial 0.5 GW module facility is expected to operate at 40-50% utilisation before moving towards 60-70% and eventually around 85%. ## Manufacturing Push The manufacturing push also ties into Shakti's broader growth ambitions. Management has set a target of reaching ₹5,000 crore in revenue by FY29, with growth expected to come from solar pumps, rooftop solar, VFDs, modules and cells, structures, exports and other businesses. The company expects the full integration of its solar manufacturing chain to eventually support margins as well. Management has indicated that once the planned capacities are fully commissioned, the expanded manufacturing structure could contribute around three percentage points to EBITDA margin. The latest ₹11 crore infusion, therefore, is less about the size of the immediate investment and more about financing the next stage of Shakti Pumps' manufacturing strategy. SESL, which reported ₹239.11 crore revenue in FY26, is the vehicle through which the company is building its solar cell and module manufacturing business. With the 0.5 GW module facility expected first and the 2.2 GW integrated plant planned for 2027, Shakti is gradually moving towards a model where more of the components required for its solar businesses are manufactured in-house.

Five Ways India’s Solar Inverter Market Is Changing
India’s solar inverter market is entering a period of rapid product diversification, with manufacturers increasingly moving beyond conventional string inverters to address demand for energy storage, larger utility-scale projects, module-level optimisation and digitally connected rooftop systems. The shift is visible across product launches and technology strategies. Hybrid inverters are moving into higher power classes, utility-scale manufacturers are pushing inverter ratings beyond the 300-350 kW range, while microinverters are attracting a wider set of global players. At the same time, cybersecurity and data-localisation requirements are becoming an increasingly important part of inverter procurement. Here are five trends reshaping the Indian inverter market. ## 1. Hybrid inverters are moving into higher power classes Hybrid inverters are no longer limited to residential backup applications. Manufacturers are increasingly developing higher-capacity systems that combine solar generation, battery storage and grid management for commercial and industrial consumers. Solis, for instance, launched a 125 kW smart string hybrid inverter for C&I applications in 2025. Its S6-EH3P series combines PV inversion, battery charging and discharging, on-grid/off-grid switching and energy management in a single system. Multiple units can also be operated in parallel up to 1.25 MW. Deye has also moved into the 100-125 kW category with its three-phase high-voltage hybrid inverter, which supports battery integration, AC coupling and parallel operation. Indian player SolarYaan is similarly offering hybrid inverters ranging from 5 kW to 125 kW, including a 50-125 kW commercial series. The trend reflects a broader change in the C&I market, where customers increasingly want one power-conversion platform capable of handling solar, storage and backup rather than deploying separate systems. ## 2. The race for higher-capacity utility inverters Another visible trend is the push towards higher-capacity string and utility-scale inverters. In the last Inter Solar event in Gandhinagar, we saw Sigenergy launching its 500 kW utility-scale inverter, marking a new milestone. GoodWe, another global firm, has also eyed a 500kW inverter launch. This comes at a time when many of the solar inverter companies flaunted their 350kW inverters, but now the game is getting bigger. “We are the first one launching a 500-kilowatt utility inverter with 1,000 volts globally, and of course, the first one launching in the Indian market as well,” Sigenergy team told Saur Energy at Inter Solar, this year. According to the company, the launch is part of a broader strategy to offer an integrated energy ecosystem across residential, commercial and utility-scale segments. The underlying logic is straightforward: higher-capacity inverters can reduce the number of inverter units required at large solar plants and potentially lower balance-of-system and installation costs. As utility-scale projects become larger, manufacturers are therefore competing to offer higher power density without compromising efficiency, grid compliance and thermal performance. ## 3. Microinverters are attracting more players Microinverters are emerging as another area of competition, particularly as India's residential rooftop market expands. Enphase has been the established name in the segment, but the competitive field is widening. Hoymiles has expanded its presence in India and recently secured a 360 MW microinverter supply agreement with Kosol Energie, which it described as India's largest single microinverter deal to date. Hoymiles has also received Bureau of Energy Efficiency certification for its microinverters in India, with the company reporting overall efficiency above 95.6% and static MPPT efficiency of up to 99.8%. Deye has a dedicated microinverter portfolio, including models with multiple MPPTs and support for high-power PV modules. Sungrow also launched a microinverter to capture the new rising market. The technology is particularly relevant for residential rooftops because each module, or a small group of modules, gets its own power conversion. This can improve module-level monitoring and reduce the impact of shading or differences between individual panels. However, microinverters remain a relatively nascent segment in India, with cost, installer familiarity and certification among the factors influencing adoption. ## 4. Cybersecurity is becoming an inverter specification Solar inverters are increasingly being treated not just as power-electronics equipment but also as connected digital devices. This is becoming particularly important under PM Surya Ghar. In August 2026, MNRE issued guidelines concerning inverter-level generation data and the storage of data from rooftop solar systems. The ministry's notice requires compliance with the guidelines and is applicable to inverter manufacturers. The move follows India's broader focus on inverter-level data, communication and cybersecurity. Recent reporting on the regulatory framework has highlighted requirements concerning the connection of inverter communication devices to national servers managed by the government or designated agencies. For manufacturers, this means that communication architecture, data storage, cybersecurity protocols and compliance are increasingly becoming part of product development and market access. The implications go beyond the inverter itself. Connected rooftop systems can transmit generation, operational and diagnostic data, making the inverter a potential gateway between distributed generation assets and digital energy-management platforms. ## 5. PM Surya Ghar is creating a larger market for small inverters The fifth change is happening at the opposite end of the capacity spectrum. The rapid expansion of residential rooftop solar under PM Surya Ghar is creating sustained demand for smaller string and hybrid inverters. The scheme had received 7.77 million applications and resulted in 4.19 million rooftop installations by August 5, 2026, according to data presented by the government in Parliament. The installations represented 14,894.95 MW of cumulative rooftop capacity under the scheme. This is creating room for both established inverter manufacturers and new entrants targeting the 1-10 kW residential segment. The product opportunity is also changing. Customers are increasingly looking beyond a basic grid-connected inverter towards systems that can accommodate batteries, backup loads, smart energy management and, potentially, future storage additions. For inverter manufacturers, PM Surya Ghar therefore represents more than a volume opportunity. It is pushing the residential inverter market towards a broader product ecosystem involving storage, monitoring, data connectivity and energy management.
