ART AND DESIGN

I built a mandala tool. It does two things. You draw, and every stroke repeats around the centre at whatever fold count you set. Or you press generate and it draws one for you. Live: mrdee.in/mandala ## What’s in it # The generator has 19 motif types, 24 palettes, 9 colour harmony generators and 7 gradient modes. The drawing side has an inkwell of metallic, gradient and classic inks, and 7 nib styles. One HTML file plus one JS file. No backend, no build step, and nothing fetched from anywhere else.
CYBERSECURITY AND THREAT INTELLIGENCE

## Hi, I’m Dinesh. # I work in cybersecurity — the part where you spend years building defences, and then watch someone click a phishing link anyway. I came to security through the military, which turns out to be decent preparation: in both fields, what gets you isn’t the threat you planned for. By day I think about risk, governance, and incident response. By night I build small things with AI, read source code nobody asked me to read, and post Kannada philosophy to Mastodon.
CYBERSECURITY AND THREAT INTELLIGENCE

The first thing I noticed was how hard it was to answer a simple question: which of these ransomware victims are actually in India? The feeds have country tags. Some have .in domains. Company names contain “India”, “Bharat” and “Pvt Ltd”. There are addresses, city names and parent companies. On paper, it looks like enough to classify a list. It isn’t. Over twelve weeks, two ransomware leak-site aggregators produced 113 records that I eventually collapsed into 73 organisations in India. None of the underlying breach claims is verified. The 73 is not a breach count. It is the output of one set of classification and deduplication decisions applied to criminal claims.

INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT AND STREAMING

I had a small web radio player sitting in a scratch folder — an amber-on-black thing styled like an old hi-fi tuner. It played Radio Paradise and SomaFM. What it didn’t play was the radio I actually grew up with: All India Radio, in Kannada and Hindi. So I added those, and turned it into something I’d keep open in a tab. Live: mrdee.in/radio ## What it is # One web page. No app to install, nothing running on a server. It plays about eighteen stations across four groups:

I’ve wanted to contribute to the Linux kernel for a while. The gap was never desire — it was that I had no safe place to break things. This is the note of closing that gap in an afternoon, and the plan I wrote so the momentum doesn’t evaporate. --- ## First, finish what was half-done # The lab box was supposed to be on Debian 13 (trixie). It wasn’t — not really.
base-files reported trixie, but sources.list still pointed at bookworm and 401 packages were stranded at Debian 12 versions. A dist-upgrade had stalled partway and had its sources quietly reverted. A split-brain machine.
