Boiling Steam: Steam Deck and Linux Gaming

Between 2026-09-05 and 2026-09-12 we selected 13 newly released games that are rated as Verified or Playable on the Steam Deck, and meeting specific criteria in terms of user ratings. The big news is Valheim coming out of Early Access after years of development and tweaking. I played it quite a bit in coop when it was first released, and it was already a solid game then, so I can only imagine how much it has progressed since then. There’s also the very peculiar Welcome to Elderfield that mixes horror, farming, lofi music and pixel art. What a mix! Full details below.

Between 2026-08-19 and 2026-08-26 there were 131 New Steam games released with Native Linux builds. For reference, during the same time, there were 1051 games released for Windows on Steam, so the Linux versions represent about 12.5 % of total released titles. It’s worth checking T.W.I.R.L., an ASCII-art bullet-hell roguelike where your android companion carries persistent injury and trauma between runs. And there’s SENSORY OVERLOAD, a psychedelic dropper that ADHD and autistic players specifically report as inducing calm and focus despite being visually overwhelming. Full list below!

Two highlights for the past week, with How to Fish, a brilliant co-op chaotic that drives immediate fun and has great replay value.
